What are we measuring?
This measure tracks the percentage of felony indictments made within ninety days of arrest in cases where the defendant is refused bail.
Why is it important?
According to the Official Code of Georgia 17-7-50, any person who is arrested and refused bail must within ninety days of confinement have the charges against him or her heard by a grand jury. If no grand jury hears the charges within 90 days, the court must set a bail.
