What are we measuring?
This measure is aimed at tracking the number of individuals who are arrested within 12 months of a previous arrest. The calculations are based on bookings into the Fulton County Main Jail or other county detention facility.  It excludes arrests of individuals who are detained in one of the municipal jails and do not go on to be booked into a county facility. Charges are generally less serious against individuals who are only detained in municipal jail.  It should be noted that this is not a measure of "recidivism," which is normally defined as the conviction of an individual following a previous conviction within some pre-defined time period.

How are we doing?
The percentage of individuals released from jail in a given quarter who are rearrested and booked into Fulton County Jail within 12 months has remained consistently at around 30% over the three years for which the measure has been tracked.
